Trad By The Lake
Carmel Dempsey is one of Galway’s best known
musical performers, a talented musician and singer, with a great sense of humour, possessing all the necessary characteristics of a truly great
Entertainer.
The first band Carmel joined was ‘The Foggy Dew’ Ceile Band with local legendary musicians, Ned Coleman, Tony Molloy and Martin Leahy.
As a solo artist in the late 80’s Carmel played
support to many international acts including ‘Meat Loaf’ and ‘Leo Sayer’. She then went on to tour with some of Ireland’s best known traditional bands including ‘De Danann’, ‘The Dolores Keane Band’ and Sean Keane’s band. She also has toured internationally with Galway’s Druid Theatre and The Celtic Flames show. Carmel has entertained for as few as 7 guests in a private drawing room ( Pierce Brosnan’s pre-wedding party at St. Cleran’s manor house) to large audiences in concert halls, on cruise
ships and at outdoor festivals.

Radio Team.
Carmel hosts an hourly traditional Irish music and
folk show ‘Trad by the Lake’ on Sunday afternoons
at 2pm. She is happy to play all your requests and
dedications and looks forward to hearing from the
local community and beyond .
